EF 151 Participation

Class

You are expected to attend all classes, to pay attention, and to participate in the class activities. It is your responsibility to get with another student and get the information that you missed. Participation in class is graded through the use of a personal response system (clickers) and completion of the in-class problems. Absences are accounted for as follows:

  • Clickers: If you earn 75% of the possible points, you will receive a 100 for your semester clicker grade.
  • In-class problem: The lowest three in-class problem grades will be dropped.

Lab

You are expected to attend all labs, to pay attention, and to participate. If you have to miss a lab, you must promptly record the reason why you missed the session via the missed lab page. At the end of the semester, your lab participation grade will be adjusted. At the discretion of the instructor, you may be required to provide additional documentation for more than two excused absences. You are still responsible for completing the online lab activities on your own for any missed lab.

Lab attendance will be graded on the basis of 100 points per lab. You will receive full credit if you show up on time and participate. Grades will be entered in the online gradebook within 2 hours of completion of the session. It is your responsibility to review your grade. Any discrepancy needs to be resolved by the next lab. If you are late to a lab and attendance has already been taken, it is your responsibility to make sure the TA has recorded your attendance.
