EF 157 Participation
## MWF Class
It is in your best interest to complete the Learning Pages for each MWF class day, attend class, pay attention,
and to participate in the class activities.
These activities will help you learn the material and determine which concepts you would like more information
about.
We will assess your engagement in class activities (not just attendence) each day (excluding the last 2
classes which are reviews for the final exam). The highest 31 of the 36 recorded grades will be averaged
to determine your **Lecture Participation** grade.
If you miss for any reason (even if it's excused), it is your responsibility to catch
up on material to stay on track. Your faculty instructors would be happy to help give guidance in these cases.
## TR Recitation
You are expected to attend all recitations, be on-time, pay attention, and participate.
Recitation participation will be graded on the basis of 100 points per day. You will receive
full credit if you show up on time and engage with the activity. Points will be deducted if you arrive late or
leave early without permission from Dr. Hicks or Dr. Kit or if you do not participate fully in the activity.
All of these recorded grades will be averaged to determine your **Recitation Participation** grade.
If you miss a team activity, it is your responsibility to communicate
it to your team and stay involved with the team's activities.
## Absences
We will only grant excused absences for official UT business (*e.g*., traveling with the Marching Band or Athletics),
illness, or extraordinary circumstances. If you know you are going to miss or have missed a class,
contact your faculty instructors
at the earliest possible time.
The process of granting an excused absence will be the most straightforward if you can supply a note
(from doctor, coach, band director, *etc*).
## Grades
Grades will be entered in the on-line gradebook within 2 hours of completion of
the class. It is your responsibility to review your grade. Any
discrepancy needs to be resolved by the next recitation.
